Located on the western side of central Luzon, Manila lies on the coast of Manila Bay, famous for its beautiful sunsets. The Pasig River, formerly an extensive mangrove system, flows through the city.

It is generally hot and humid in Manila—especially during the summer months of March to May. The most pleasant months are December and January, when the weather is breezy and sunny.
