We dreamt of an exotic island and discovered Palawan through Global Nomad. Having traveled all over the world did not prepare us for the breathtaking experience of dining barefoot under a full moon on an exposed sandbar or feasting on newly caught fish off banana leaves in an isolated beach. It was an experience of a lifetime!

For a few glorious days in a house perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean, I found peace in the windswept island of Batanes. Its ancient village with intact stone houses merits the UNESCO World Heritage designation but it is the people you meet whose smiles touch your heart that make the experience unforgettable!
Sunset in the sand dunes of Ilocos, dismantled antique homes reassembled into old Filipino homes, a stone church where little children welcomed us with native songs and a seaside village with people hauling in their fishing nets. I couldn't imagine a more picturesque setting!
